I'm a bit disappointed at the Le Mans outcome, so here I am to take my mind off one sad thing and focus on another sad thing. What was the best car that never made it into production?

This question is pretty open-ended, so modern Ferrari LMP at Le Mans, Williams or Red Bull Road car, etc. Go for it!

Volkswagen's Nardo W12 monsters, I would take a yellow speedster with the darker wheels.

What we might've gotten instead of BMW's MINI. (Minki was the internal development name.)

No seriously though the CX-17 was such an interesting concept with it's dual charging. Woulda been a totally different beast than hr 3 hybrid/hyper cars we have now but it woulda been interesting to see what it coulda done against the hybrids using only a crazy advanced engine and lightweight materials.

Shame it probably wasn't reliable enough because the dual charging to be a feasable road car

Here's something that really should have (and can still) happened; the Z06X. It was a SEMA concept built with Pratt&Miller, and is basically a Z06 GT3 RS.

Ooooo, good one.

When this debuted I was sure something like this would be in the final run of C6s.

Can't rally complain about the 427 convertible we got though either. :)

I can see this happening with the c7 actually. I may be mistaken but I thought I read rumor about a special tanktrack version of the new Z.

God would that be amazing though. That would be a straight up monster.

Seriously, fuck you Ford. All I ever wanted was a big RWD flagship sedan in the style of the glorious Continentals of the 1960s, and all you give us is a bloated, rebadged FWD Taurus that looks like a freaking whale. You rake in billion-dollar quarterly profits, but refuse to invest the necessary resources in your luxury brand to build competitive luxury vehicles. Makes me sad when I think about what could be..

I wish this actually got made. Maybe under another name, but it is one of the best looking Lotuses never made.

I agree, and don't know why everybody was so upset about the concepts under Danny Bahr's Lotus (save for the whole weight issue, but still...).

I was always intrigued by the possibilities of the Connaught Type D. I don't know if they ever had a real series production of these.

The company still has a website: http://www.connaughtmotorco.com/ but it may be all just British Sportscar Company Vapourware.

Somebody already picked the Shelby GR-1, so that just leaves the Miura concept:
